The Resort Group PLC Sponsor Rhode Island Celebrations for Cape Verdean Independence Day

The Resort Group PLC were proud to sponsor the 43rd Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival held at India Point Park, 840 Indian Pointe, Providence, Rhode Island on 8th July 2018.

The oldest celebration of the Cape Verdean community in the United States, the festival has been a tradition in Rhode Island since 1976 and aims to preserve and celebrate Cape Verdean culture and heritage.

Going from noon to dusk, the day is full of traditional music, dances, and cuisine as well as playing host to a number of cultural, educational and health and wellbeing tents that entertain thousands of attendees each year. This year, the event hosted a number of arts and crafts exhibitions from local artists which included various activities to get the children involved. After such a successful 2017, The Resort Group PLC were so pleased to see that this year was no different, with thousands of festival goers experiencing the culture of the Cape Verde Islands.

Charlie King, COO of The Resort Group PLC explained:
It’s important for us to support those that see the beauty in Cape Verdean culture like The Resort Group did over 10 years ago. Steeped in heritage, events like this highlight the Islands charm, and go some way to explaining why more and more people are visiting this cultural part of the world each year.”

Speaking of the event’s success the Rhode Island Cape Verdean Heritage group said:
The RI Cape Verdean Heritage would like to thank everyone for being part of today’s success. We had an amazing and peaceful festival with thousands of people. Today would not be possible if it wasn’t for each and everyone one of you who shared the event, participated as vendors, sponsored, volunteered, entertained us and attended.”

In order to put on this spectacular event, the Cape Verdean Independence Day Festival relies on sponsors, to which The Resort Group PLC were happy to step in as Gold Sponsor for 2018.  Sponsorship helps the event with upfront festival costs such as park rental, security, sound and entertainment, as well as various cultural tents and other associated expenses.
