Staff Spotlight: David Dumble
It is time to look at another member of the The Resort Group team as we turn the spotlight on David Dumble. Our International Sales Director has been with the Group since the very beginning and has expert knowledge when it comes to our investment opportunities in the wider market.
What did you do before you worked with The Resort Group?
For many years I was involved in the Financial Services sector with the last years in a senior management role achieving many accolades. I then went on to run a very successful Real Estate/Property Management business with my wife, Paula.
What were your first thoughts of Cape Verde?
What an amazing opportunity for property investment. I fell in love with the Islands on my first visit – the climate, accessibility from Europe and, of course, the friendliness of the local Cape Verdean community.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to invest in overseas property?
Do the research and do it again. Most importantly, make sure the developer has the experience and a proven track record.
What are the advantages of The Resort Group as an alternative investment?
Our current offering has the benefit of our 10 years+ experience, during which we have seen the development and growth of our 5-star Resorts on Sal Island. The increase in the tourism and travel sector, which is forecast at 5.8% pa, secures a great solid foundation for medium to long-term investment. Also, the rental guarantee and 5-year Resale Option offers additional security and flexibility for the investor.
How would you describe the Sales Process for international buyers?
The process is very simple and very transparent. The proof is in how many happy investors we have from across the globe.
Could you give any examples of good investor feedback?
We have a great number of investors who have purchased and then purchased again. These investors have also gone on to recommend us to their friends and colleagues – I think this speaks for itself.
What has changed since you joined the company?
I have been with the company from day one so a great deal has changed. If you had asked about Cape Verde 10 years ago, the typical response would have been “I’ve never heard of it” or “Where is it?”. Now we are seeing an increase in tourism, more direct flights and an improved infrastructure to support the development of the Islands.
What hasn’t changed over the years is the beautiful climate and “No Stress” charm.
What has been your proudest moment with the Group?
I have so many… From the very first client who invested and the opening of our first Resort MELIÃ Tortuga Beach Resort to the naming of MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa and the groundbreaking at White Sands Hotel & Spa on Boa Vista.
What is next for The Resort Group PLC?
We will continue our focus to develop and deliver the highest quality 5-star Resorts. The Island of Boa Vista has a large pipeline of planned development with White Sands Hotel & Spa as the first. We also see the development of a business hotel on the capital Island of Santiago.
