Promoting Cape Verde To New Audiences
The Resort Group PLC was created in 2007 because it believed in Cape Verde’s potential – Founder & CEO Rob Jarret knew it was a tourist destination that deserved to be on the map. Cape Verde has everything you could want from paradise: beautiful beaches, heavenly weather, views so gorgeous it’s difficult to remember they’re real.
Now, thanks to The Resort Group PLC, it has all the facilities you could hope for from your perfect, luxurious holiday destination. And the world is taking notice.
Here are just a few ways in which we’ve helped Cape Verde hit the mainstream.
Britain’s Next Top Model comes to Cape Verde
The Resort Group PLC understands that the best way for people to learn of Cape Verde’s beauty is to see it, and getting it onto TV screens definitely increases its exposure. Britain’s Next Top Model shot its final three episodes on the Island of Sal on Cape Verde, with the 35-strong production crew and cast hosted at MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa.
The collaboration between The Resort Group PLC and Thumbs Up, the production company for Britain’s Next Top Model, was perfect for both parties: the Group was dedicated to promoting the touristic value of the archipelago and Thumbs Up was keen to jet their finalists off to a glamorous hotspot.
The show filmed in a number of destinations – on beaches, in the Resorts, and with the girls taking a boat out to relax and enjoy Sal’s lovely waters. The finale was shot in the luxurious and famous Bikini Beach Club, showcasing the very best of what Cape Verde tourism – and The Resort Group PLC – has to offer.
Celebs Go Dating comes to Cape Verde
The production line has not stopped there. Recently, Celebs Go Dating came to Cape Verde to film their fourth season, allowing their famous guests to find love in the paradise of the Cape Verde Islands. The cast were put up at the gorgeous MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa and MELIÃ Llana Beach Resort & Spa, offering jaw-dropping views and spacious apartments.
In the words of Rob Jarrett, CEO and Founder of the Resort Group PLC: “The extensive TV footage of the Islands’ beaches, hotels, luxury Resorts, spas and food and drink will only increase the interest in Cape Verde. Cape Verde offers year-round sunshine, a short 5–6-hour non-stop flight from several UK airports and luxurious, yet affordable all-inclusive packages. It’s not surprising Cape Verde is attracting attention from singles, celebs as well as families.”
Cape Verde tourism booms
Cape Verde is indeed attracting a lot of attention and is now the most searched holiday destination on Google. According to Macauhub, the country’s hotels hosted 765,000 visitors in 2018, equating to 4.9 million bed nights. These represent 6.8% and 7.4% increases respectively on the same period in 2017. And that’s only when compared with 2017 – if compared with figures from 2010, the jump is far more startling. Take the number of hotel rooms in the country, for example: there were 5,891 in 2010, which had become 11,435 by 2016.
And the future of Cape Verde Tourism looks even brighter. The government plans to increase the number of visitors to Cape Verde to one million by 2020, part of the estimated rise of tourists to African countries. Indeed, the World Tourism Organization estimates that visitors to Africa will jump from 54 million in 2015 to 134 million by 2030.
